Transcending the borders between disciplines and cultures

Hans Kilian Award of Merit for the research and advancement of metacultural humanisation

The Hans Kilian Award of Merit for the Research and Advancement of Metacultural Humanisation is an initiative of the Köhler Foundation at the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.

The first call for applications for the Hans Kilian Award of Merit was announced in 2010. The conferment of the Award took place as a public event connected with Hans Kilian’s 90th anniversary in May 2011 in Darmstadt. The value of the Award constitutes 80,000 €. It is announced and conferred biennially.

The Award addresses foremost scientists and researchers who, in their theoretical, methodical and empirical works, have been creatively transcending the borders between disciplines and cultures and bringing forth productive syntheses between these previously isolated areas of knowledge.

On the following pages you will find the application forms as well as information about Hans Kilian, his works and ideas.

The Köhler Foundation has instituted a Co-ordination Bureau of the Hans Kilian Award at the Ruhr University of Bochum, which is, together with the executive committee, in charge of the organisation of the calls for applications, selection of candidates and management of the Award conferment.
